“Schweinfurter” Magazine Highlights US Army’s History in the City

The latest issue of “Schweinfurter” magazine, a free magazine distributed to city residents, focuses on the US Army and its departure from the city.  The issue includes coverage of the current situtation as the Army closes its installations in the city, reactions of those affected by the closure, and a great interview with the incomparable George Ohl.

Of particular interest is the “Schweinfurt und seine Amerikaner” exhibition that will be at the Konferenzzentrum Maininsel from July 25th until September 21st.  Photos, items, and testimony chronicling 70 years of Americans in Schweinfurt will be on display.  Entry to he exhibition is free.

You can read more in the online version of “Schweinfurter.”

Schweinfurt Expats Employment Census

There has been a lot of talk amongst city officials lately about how to best accommodate the employment needs of the Americans staying in Schweinfurt. One of the biggest roadblocks to any action in this area is the lack of an accurate count of how many of us there are and what the employment demographics look like. I have been asked to assist with this and so I have created a short survey that will give those city officials the information they need in order to help us as best they can.

The survey is only 8 questions long, all either short answer or “yes and no.” If you are or were US Army affiliated and you are staying in Schweinfurt, please take 2 minutes to fill out the survey. And when you’re done, pass it along to a friend who might not have seen it. It is for the benefit of yourself and your fellow expats.

Take the survey here.

Ready for the Schweinfurt Career Fair 2014?
